iPGMail App Reviews

This version is perfect!

Perfect! Its now a 5 star app. All features work great. All of the problems I had in the past have been fixed. This app just gets better and better. Previous review: I like the UI improvments. There is still a problem with files(pictures) being sent as encrypted attachments using iPGMail. Im not sure its the files size that is causing the problem or something else. When using Enigmail for Thunderbird on my PC, I get errors when trying to decrypt the attachment from iPGMail. Encrypted attachments I send to iPGMail from Enigmail for Thunderbird are decrypted with no problems. Previous review: Bumped it up to 4 stars. No longer deletes keys and reads incoming attachments properly. However, it is still not handling outgoing attachments right. Some work but most dont. When I try to decrypt them on my PC, the ones that dont work give me a message that they are not signed properly. Previous review: All my keys were deleted after the last update. Also, attachment arent being handled correctly now. Past versions read attachments just fine. Ill give this app 5 stars once it starts working properly again.

Missing important features

There needs to be a way to paste in a public key instead of searching key base This is a very basic feature how is this not included on a paid app

Good App

This is a good app and works well. Its a little clunky and I wish pgp was built into normal mail clients but its a great alternative and works as advertised.

It Works

Encryption and decryption works as expected.

It just works

This is a well written and supported app. Works and does what it is supposed to with no muss or fuss. Now does symmetric encryption as well.

THE iOS pgp tool!

The only app currently on the store that will properly encrypt/decrypt the way it should. Allows you to use the clipboard alone and not any form of email as well!

Great iOS PGP app

Works great, there website even has direction on how to copy over keys from your Mac. Can even be used for files from DropBox and iCloud.

The best PGP app failed me

I had written a pages-long message, then had to lock my phone for a bit. When I unlocked my phone and went back to this app, my encrypted draft was gone. One-star reviews on every version until I get my text back.

App crashes

iOS 7 user here. The nov 14 2015 release cant execute. It crashes on start up every time.

Reliable, well done pgp application!!

This is the app I was looking for! Using encryption is always an extra exercise, but this program makes it as easy and straightforward as possible. Very nicely done, thank you!!! Enhancements have shown a solid, committed developer who cares! This is in my mind the original tool for iOS and is still the best! THIS IS THE APP YOU NEED AND THE ONE YOU WANT! AND THE ONLY REASONABLE PRICED ONE AT THAT!

update failed

the most recent update failed to install, leaving me with a broken app.

Okay, but flawed.

Not perfect, but it gets the job done. Not supper user friendly.

Great App

Does an excellent job utilizing PGP, works with email, and maintains keys with ease. I can see it being a bit daunting to inexperienced PGP users, but just stick with it and rest easy knowing that your data cant so easily be obtained as it is on a regular basis. Dont put all of your eggs in one basket, relying on SSL/TLS to solely protect you. Amazing app, well done devs and keep up the good work!

The only PGP app for iPhone worth having

Forget the overpriced bloatware from Symantec. This has become the standard for which iPhone PGP apps aspire. Priced right, it does the job and continues to be improved upon by its developer. Well done and very much worth the price.

Solid

If you use PGP, this is the app to compliment whatever youre using on your PC/Mac. Not the best UI, but thats ok...after all, we are talking about PGP :-p

Its been perfectly amazing until the last update Fen 2016

I noticed after updating last night it lost my private key and all my contacts public key. So that just screwed me over. The worst possible outcome has happened.

Very nice!

A: it works, and B: it is fairly easy to use. Really cool to find a working mobile Openpgp implantation that works and doesnt require a Ph.D. Well worth the money.

Has Most of What I Need

App is great: great price, ability to generate keys unlike its more expensive competitor, sign and encrypt messages, and a responsive app developer. Did I already say the price is right? Yeah, sure some operations are kludgy, but it is most likely a function of the iOS. I had hoped it would have a couple of features that I can use instead of having to use other apps like PWsafe2 or Boxcryptor: • ability to encrypt AND sign a string of text (like login info that I can store in Notes); and • ability to encrypt AND sign files (currently, it can only encrypt but CANNOT sign) … ideally, I would like to encrypt and sign AND THEN, like the legacy PGPTools on the Windows platform, be able to create a detached signature to confirm the encrypted or original file is unchanged and/or un-corrupted since signing or encrypted/signed. I reached out to the developer, and while I understand there are no promises, the fee that I paid is a small contribution to future enhancements, even if, in its current state, my copy of iPGMail will be underused, for now, since I am using another app/solution for end-to-end encryption. Still, its simplicity cannot be overstated and the app developer actually has a day job that gives some assurance that his implementation – the weakest point in OpenPGP iterations – is sound. Will obviously revise review to 5 if my wish list were somehow incorporated and made functional.

Follow up

I thought the image encryption didnt work and posted a review saying so. But I figured it out. Everything works great. Review edited.

PGP encryption features for a nice price

This app provides almost everything I want from a PGP app for iOS. Its as close as the platform will allow for native Mail integration. Not fully integrated with the Mail app, but you can send encrypted messages from accounts saved on your device. Decryption is trickier -- you have to import encrypted content and decrypt from iPGMail. Still, not bad. And you can import your private keys via Airdrop. You dont have to expose them to the cloud at all, though you can also use Dropbox or iCloud if you want. The place where this app is lacking is attention to detail in the interface. The basic interface makes sense, but the layout is a little clumsy in places. Still, this is a very good app for a good price. Recommended if you use PGP, including via keybase.io.
